Marlene Acevedo Obituary
Marlene Acevedo, 76, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at her home.
Mary Marlene Stoll Coggins Acevedo was born July 28, 1938, to Kenneth W. Stoll and Bertha A Rounds Stoll in Rock Springs, Wyoming, just 7 minutes after her identical twin, Merna Arlene, was born.
Following her graduation from Mountain View High School in 1956, she attended Ricks College where she went through registered nurses training. She was in the last class to complete the three-year training through Idaho Falls LDS School of Nursing and graduated in 1959.
Marlene married Robert R Acevedo in May 1959 in McKinnon, Wyoming. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 4, 1965.  They were blessed with five children: Cindi Marie, Charles Robert, Daniel Roland, David Jon and Anne-Louise.
During her life, she worked as an RN in the Blackfoot Medical Clinic and Hospital.  She was the House Supervisor at Bingham Memorial Hospital and head of the OB/Gyn Department for many years.  She enjoyed her work and was an outstanding nurse.  It brought her  pleasure to help bring so many babies into this world.
Marlene was active in the LDS Church and held many positions: Relief Society president,  Stake Young Women's presidency, Primary and Young Women's presidency, and her favorite was teaching the young people in Sunday School, a position she held for many years. She loved the young people and had a profound effect on their lives.
In 2002, Robert and Marlene served an LDS service mission for a year.
They took their family on many trips to Guatemala to visit Robert's family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert and their children: Cindi (Julio) Lee, Dominican Republic; Charles (Marcia Hunsaker), Logan, Utah; Daniel (Suzanne Kelsey), Houston, Texas; David  (Virginia Kendrick), Pocatello, Idaho; Anne (Brad) Shipley, Los Angeles, California; 14 grandchildren-2 grandson's-in-law;  Twin sister-Arlene McCabe (Anthony) Riding;  Niece's and  Nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Meeks; brother, Jon Coggins;  and a niece.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Moreland 6th Ward in the Northwest Stake Center.
The family will meet with friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the stake center.
Interment will be in the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.
