Norman Stanger Obituary
Norman Ross "Bud" Stanger, 85, of Iona, passed away August 26, 2015, at Mountain View Hospital in Idaho Falls. He was suffering from complications due to Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Norman was born June 25, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Frank and Geneva Bybee Stanger. He grew up in Iona and graduated from Iona High School. He served as an LDS missionary for two years in the West Texas El Paso Mission. He also served his country in the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Captain. Norm continued his education at Ricks College, University of Idaho, Brigham Young University and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Secondary Education.

On December 17, 1954, he married Joyce Jensen in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They raised their five children in the Taylor area south of Idaho Falls. Norm began his teaching career at Soda Springs Junior High. He taught for a brief time at O.E. Bell Junior High before transferring to Clair E. Gale, where he taught for 36 years. He taught for one year at Taylorview Junior High before retiring in 1992.

After his retirement, he and Joyce bought a house and farm in the Rockford area west of Blackfoot. They lived there for 18 years and loved the new friends they made. They moved to Iona in 2009.

For most of his life, Norman was a cattle rancher and farmer. With the help of his four sons, he ran his cow-calf operation in Bone, Idaho during the summers and at home in the valley during the winters.

"Bud" was an avid horseman who continued to ride horses to the very end. He was one of the few genuine American cowboys. Norm was a devoted and loving husband. He cherished his family and considered them his greatest treasure.
