Robert Newel Belnap Obituary
It is with immense sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and dear friend.
Robert Newel Belnap slipped quietly away from life in his home on April 26, 2017, in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was 76 years old.
Robert N. Belnap was born January 14, 1941 at Bingham Memorial Hospital to proud parents Newel and Vera Belnap, both from Blackfoot, Idaho. Bob was the second of four siblings. He had a great childhood, with nourishing parents, 2 younger sisters, and an older brother.
Bob married Colleen Story in 1958 and was blessed with their son, Steven Robert Belnap, born January 31, 1959. Not long after their son's birth, Bob lost his wife Colleen, to a grand mal seizure. Bob became a single parent raising his son with help from his parents.
Bob had many hobbies. He was very skilled in hunting, target shooting, and the art of archery to name a few. Bob also had a passion for carpentry as well as mechanics.
He worked at Pixton Motors, Dolder Motors and then onto Blackfoot Motors where he finished his career. Bob was a salesman in the parts department. His sister Betty recalls what a great teacher he was. "He taught me how to repair my own car."
When something needed to be fixed he would explain to me how to repair it, then watched with guidance, she stated.
Bob also owned several homes in the Blackfoot area, where he consistently worked hard in his craftsmanship maintaining the upkeep on his properties, in which he took pride in those accomplishments.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Newel Belnap, a sister Nola Curtis, a brother Milton, and two great grandchildren, Amber Colleen and Steven Andrew Rayne.
Bob is survived by his sister, Betty Winmill, from Burley, Idaho, son, Steven R. Belnap, from Blackfoot, Idaho, grandchildren, Nichole Lee Grigg and Aaron Nathaniel from San Diego, California, Axel from Washington, Zeek, Deja and Skyler from Idaho, Falls, great grandchildren, Mason and Taylor Grigg, Melody, soon to be Madilynn, Irelynn Rayne O'Ryan, Brecken, and Kingston along with nephews and nieces.
Throughout his life, Bob never lost his awe of nature's beauty and love for his family and friends. He will remain in our hearts and memories and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center, 101 N 900 W in Blackfoot.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, Shelley, ID 83274 to help with funeral expenses.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.
