William "Jerry" Gay, 74 of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.|
Jerry was born February 1, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho to Harry William Gay and Barbara Louise Ropp Gay.
Jerry was raised and attended school in Fort Hall and Pingree. He lived in Blackfoot for 18 years before moving to Pocatello. He then moved back to Blackfoot in 1993.
On June 29, 1962 he married Karen Webb in Pingree, Idaho.
Jerry worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Bannock Paving and Western Construction before retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 370. In his free time he enjoyed goose and duck hunting, fishing, and camping. He knew how to run the river and loved floating it. He also loved spending time with his family and friends and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Jerry is survived by his wife Karen of Blackfoot; daughters, Michelle (Darrell) Martin of Blackfoot, Julie (Rikki) Morrisseau of Blackfoot; sister, Ronda (Tom) Hale of Blackfoot; six grandchildren, Jon, Savannah, Chase, Starr, Sheena, Kyle; 14 great grandchildren, Trinity, Chris, Saphire, Ronnie, Maddie, Leticia, Dexter, Carlos Jr., Kai, Drake, Cyrus, Tajia, Devenn, Jaxxon, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Barbara; son, Jerry William; daughter, Cheri Anne Gay and sister, Barbara Ann Walker.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date in the spring. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
