Alvana (Meier) Harms(1930 - 2018)

Alvana Meier Harms 88, of Amarillo passed away September 6, 2018 in Amarillo. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell St.

Interment will be Monday, September 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery with a Celebration of Life at 10:00 a.m. at Bell Avenue Baptist Church with Danny Logan officiating. Services are under the direction of Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors 5400 Bell St.

Alvana was born September 2, 1930 in Follett, TX to George and Mollie Meier. She attended school in Follett where she played basketball and was a twirler for Follett High School. She met her true love Mack Harms and they were married May 5, 1961. Her family was very important to her. She was involved in the school PTA for many years and always created a coffee group wherever they lived. She enjoyed doing yard work whether it was mowing the yard or taking care of her flowers along with any other type of arts and crafts. She was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church for many years and a member of the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank SkyWest Amarillo and Accolade home health and hospice for all the care and support of Alvana during their time of need.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Mack, her parents, a grandson William Robert Brooks, a granddaughter Amy Burk, two brothers Dave and Willie Meier.

She is survived by her daughters Melissa Burns and husband Robert and Melody Brooks and husband John. Granddaughter Julie Castle, three great grandchildren Ayslinn and Ledger Burk and Dakota Burns along with many loving family members.
