Service for Howard Lewis Brown, 85, will be Friday, December 09, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 - 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Brown passed away Tuesday, December 06, 2016, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Betty Joyce Brown; two daughters, Margaret Brown Rowland (Jerry) and Jessie Brown Hall (Ric); six step-children, Jean Garrett Freeman (Doug), Sue Garrett Lee, Cookie Garrett-Kern (Chris), Diane Trantham Land (Larry), Shirley Trantham Garrett and Tandy Trantham Tsukanov; 25 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jacob Hall, Jefferson Hall, Jude Hall, Tracey Freeman, Jacob Ford and Bradley Nguyen. Mr. Brown was a native of Calhoun County, a current resident of Somerville, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from Western Union, was a member of the masonic lodge in Atlanta and was a shriner. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Lela Mann Brown; son, Nelson Garrett; grandson, Jonah Hall; mother, Ludo Garner; brothers, J.D.
