Greenville, SC - Ruth Elizabeth Bowman, 97, of 211 Landwood Avenue, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013. A native of Anniston, Alabama, she was the wife of the late Clarence O. Bowman and the daughter of the late Emmett Franklin Brown, and Ella Mozell Moon Brown. She retired at age 73 from Piedmont Industries as a seamstress after they closed. Mrs. Bowman was of the Baptist faith and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Helen B. Smith, of Greenville, S.C.; a sister, Imogene Patty, of Piedmont; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Jack Clarence and Jimmie Lee Bowman; a brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at Stribling Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
