Walker, Donald Ray - Jacksonville  
Memorial service for Mr. Donald Ray Walker, 81, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 24, at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville with Dr. Derek Staples officiating. There will be a time of fellowship immediately following the service. Mr. Walker died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his residence. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., he moved to Calhoun County during his teenage years and later served our nation in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After earning his Masters of Education, he began a 30 year career as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at Alexandria High School. Besides his love for AHS sports, he loved to fish, loved his family, and was known to have a witty sense of humor. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Music Ministry of his home church, the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, 230 7th St NE, Jacksonville, AL, 36265. Mr Walker is survived by his wife, Joyce McGathy Walker; daughter, Pam Walker Turner; son, Vann Walker (Missy); daughter, Anna Walker Messer (Craig); grandchildren, Paige Strickland (Jason), Nick, Taylor, Peyton, Walker, Kobe, Nash; great-grandchildren, Brently and Evie; along with two brothers; Tommy Walker and R.L. Walker. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents; Ray and Annalee Walker; sisters, Patsy Large, Wylene Walker, and by his brother, Vance Walker. His grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers; Nicholas Vann Walker, Walker Reese Messer, Kobe Adison Messer and Hayden Nash Messer.

Brewster, James Harvey - Ohatchee  
Funeral service for James Harvey Brewster, 78, will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Ohatchee First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Taylor, pastor and the Rev. Michael Massey officiating. Interment will follow in Ohatchee First Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Brewster passed away on July 18, 2016. Mr. Brewster's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. Mr. Brewster retired from the Alabama Gas Company. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Brewster; his children, Min. Gregory L. (Wanda) Brewster Sr., Paul H. (Mary) Brewster, Janice Tillman, Connie Redwine and Sharon Redwine; 11 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Strickland, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Macon and Lucille Brewster; son, James R. Brewster; siblings, Clark Brewster, Barbara Ann Goodwin, Dianne Brewster, Jasber Brewster and Vincent Brewster. Montgomery, Evon (Douthit) - Lincoln  
Funeral service for Evon Douthit Montgomery, 82, will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Everett Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Church Cemetery. Mrs. Montgomery passed away on July 14, 2016 at Talladega Healthcare Center. A wake will be held 5-7 this evening. Mrs. Montgomery's remains will arrived at the church one hour prior to her service. Mrs. Montgomery has been a licensed foster parent since 1973, raising over 200 children and adopted 7. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, on the Mother's Board and Missionary Society at her church. Survivors include her children, Jeffery Green, Taimita Montgomery, Andrea Montgomery, Melinda (Arnold) Swain and Patrick (Oxzona) Green; God sons, Charles Finley Jr. and Greg Finley; brother, Richard Douthit; grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Essie Douthit; husband, Leonard Montgomery; children, Erica Montgomery Winston and Terry Montgomery; siblings, Willis, P. A private graveside service for Mrs. Dollie T. Burford was held on July 20, 2016 at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Burford passed away on July 18, 2016. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Woodham, and a grandson, Blake Woodham. Mrs. Burford is survived by her husband of 65 years, Samuel D. Burford; a son, Mike (Cindy) Burford; grandchildren, John Woodham, Todd (Kayla) Burford, Mandy Burford and Will (Anna) Burford; great-grandchildren, J.D. Woodham IV, Ava and Ali Burford, Jett and Ryleigh Burford. Mrs. Burford was a member of First Baptist Church of Saks. Funeral services for Mr. Jeffery Lynn Bussey, 53, will be Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating with burial to follow at Edgemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 22, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Bussey passed on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, in Wellington. Mr. Bussey is survived by his wife, Tracie Bussey; daughter, Ashlie Bussey and fiancé, Ryan Menchey; mother, Sandra Bussey; sister, Teresa (Chuck) Stanfield; grandson, Caleb Menchey; nieces and nephews, Kendra (Matt) Wicklund, Will Stanfield, Steven (Ashey) Calloway and Johnathan Stanfield; several great- nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Larry Fleming; mother-in-law, Helen Fleming. Mr. Bussey was preceded in death by his father, Paul Bussey, and sister, Paulette Bussey. Echols, Zeola Davis - Ashland  
Funeral service for Zeola Davis Echols, 82, will be on Friday, July 22, 2016, at noon at the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darryl Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Old Field Cemetery. Mrs. Echols passed away on July 18, 2016 at St. Vincents East, Birmingham. Mrs. Echols' remains will arrive at the church two hours prior to her services. Mrs. Echols attended Tuskeegee University and graduated from Daniel Payne College. She was a retired educator at Ashland Elementary School. She was a founder of the Ballard and Echols Enrichment Program, she served two terms as a member of Ashland City Council, also served on the Ashland Board of Registrars. Survivors include her children, Pirretta Echols, Clifford (Bonnie) Echols, Lewis (Beverly) Echols and James (Denettria) Echols Jr.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Azaline Davis; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Humphry and Annie Davis; son, Gregory Bruce Echols; siblings, Catherine Beverly, Clara Davis, Claude Davis, Georgette Davis, Jacqueline Carter, Josephine Davis, Horace Davis, Humphry Davis Jr., Robert Davis, Tabitha Davis, and Vitha Davis. Lacy, Mary Alice - Anniston  
Graveside service for Mary Alice Lacy, 96, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Edgemont Cemetery with the Rev. William Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 at Gray Brown Service Mortuary. Mrs. Lacy passed away Tuesday following a lengthy illness. Survivors include her son, Roger Lacy (Velvet), of Hoover; her brother Frank Nichols (Lillian); grandchildren, Elise Magnolia (Peter), Bonnie Lacy, Natalie Lacy and Samantha Schmid; great- grandchildren, Aubriana Magnolia and Naomi Magnolia, and several nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, James and Annie Nichols; her husband, John D. Lacy; her son, Harry Lacy, and brother, Thomas Nichols. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Mary worked at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital where she was loved by staff and patients. She retired from hospital work in 1985. She had a deep appreciation for flowers and was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Golden Springs from the time of its inception. Funeral service for Miss Irma Lee Mitchell, 92, will be Friday, July 22, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Sanders officiating with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Ohatchee. Visitation will be today, July 21, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Miss Mitchell passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Golden Living. Miss. Mitchell is survived by her sister, Lucille (Edward) Magouirk; brother, Henry (Hazel) Mitchell; three nieces; four nephews; seven great-nieces, and six great-nephews. Miss Mitchell was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Pierce Mitchell; mother, Ida Mae Mitchell; sisters, Louise Mitchell and Bertha Vice, and brother, Ernest Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Darrell Vice, Ben Clark, Duane Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, David Dunaway, Steve Davis and Danny Aude. Miss Mitchell was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She attended Calvary Temple Assembly of God, was a graduate of Ohatchee High School class of 1946, and was employed with Anniston Sportswear for 35 ½ years.
