Charles Edward Harper

Gadsden - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013, at Bachelor's Chapel Baptist Church for Charles Edward Harper, 65, of North Gadsden, who passed away November 27, 2013. The Rev. Harold Epperson and the Rev. Shannon Caudle will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge. Mr. Harper was a member of Bachelor's Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from Anniston Army Depot as a crane operator after 29 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Shelley Lamar and Kathleen Harper. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Harper; daughters, Kathy Diener, of Frederick, Md., and Amy (Jawed) Khan, of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Claudia Diener, Eva Diener, and Imran Khan; sister, Ann Bradley; brothers, Donald Harper, Richard Harper, and David Harper; a host of nieces and nephews; and his faithful and loving English Bulldog, Tony. Pallbearers will be David Dean, James Dunaway, Bruce Mobley, Byron Pledger Jr., Don Rueger, and Jackie Caudle. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible class at Bachelor's Baptist Church. Special thanks to New Beacon Hospice. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church Friday.
