David A. "Pops" Conner

Attalla - Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Village Chapel for David A. "Pops" Conner, 74, of Attalla, who died April 4, 2013. The Reverend Garry Ford will officiate. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Conner was born in Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia and since was a longtime resident of Etowah County. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a dedicated scouter; serving as Scout Master of Troup #92 of Rainbow City, #190 of Glencoe, and assistant Scout Master #108 of Ohatchee. Mr. Conner loved children and serving as Santa's helper during Christmas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Priscilla Conner, and daughter, Cheryl Holloway. He is survived by his wife, Reba Ford Conner; son, David (Delayne) Conner; stepson, Jamie Anderson; grandchildren, Jennifer (Derek) Kilgore, Amanda (Alex) Stanfield, Christi Conner, Heather (Michael) Somers, Josh Conner, Justin Conner; great-grandchildren, Jason, Seth, Dawn, Ava, and Ayden; sisters, Blanche Graf and Margaret Connor; brother, James Conner and loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the and Ragan Chapel United Methodist Church of Ohatchee. Honorary pallbearers will be Troup 108 Boy Scouts and retired Staff Sergeant Eric Barnes. Special thanks to Susanne and Kelly of Alacare Hospice and staff, Alabama Cancer Center, and McGuffey's Health Care. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation following the service provided by Village Chapel Funeral Home.
