Ellis Watson Craven

Oxford - Funeral services for Mr. Ellis Watson Craven, 85, of Oxford, will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Rebecca Davis officiating. Entombment will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Craven died Monday at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jewell Craven; daughter, Debbie Nothdurft (Ted), of Anniston; son, Mike Craven (Melissa), of Oxford; sister, Ellen Key, of Delta; brothers, Jim Craven, of Jacksonville, Sherald Craven, of Pensacola, Wayne Craven, of Meridian, Miss.; grandchildren, Farrah Waller (Matt), Terrence Craven (Meredith) Gage Craven (Molly), Brody Craven; great-grandchildren, Tanner Craven, Olivia Craven, and Hannah Waller. Pallbearers will be Mike Craven, Terrence Craven, Gage Craven, Brody Craven, Ted Nothdurft, and Matt Waller. Mr. Craven was a native of Randolph County and a resident of Oxford since 1955. He was a member of Dodson Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was an Ordained Elder in the Church. He was the previous owner/operator of The Tackle Box and The Razor's Edge Barber Shop. He served the city of Oxford as a Councilman and was a member of the Oxford Civil Service Board.
