Ethel Prince Porter

Funeral service for Mrs. Ethel Prince Porter, 95, will be 12 p.m., Saturday at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Porter passed away Friday, April 11, 2014, at RMC. Mrs. Porter is survived by two daughters, Arametta Porter and Judy P. Young, both of Anniston; two sons, Herman (Aljonia) Porter, of Crestview, Fla. and Yorick (Beverly) Porter, of Anniston; 14 grandchildren, Nedra (Patrick) Payton, of Mobile, Shawneese Baysmore, of Crestview, Fla., Valery (Wilbert) Harrison, of Gadsden, Yolanda Porter, of Crestview, Fla., Roderick Thomas, of Gadsden, Bernard (Nicole) Thomas, of Mobile, Angela Rohns, of O'Fallon, Ill., Norleshia (Patrick) Robinson, of Calera, Andre Young, of Acworth, Ga., Andrew Wilson, of O'Fallon, Ill., Sherman Hall, of Crestview, Fla., Jamelle Young, of Montgomery, LaShea Young, of Oxford, LaVonte (Keiuna) Young, of Oxford; fifteen great-grandchildren; a special niece, Carolyn Coleman, of Bessemer; a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Herman Porter Sr.; daughters, Shirley Wilson and Delores Thomas; sisters, Hattie Whitehead and Bertha Rosser; brother, George Prince. Mrs. Porter worked many years as a nurse's assistant at Anniston Memorial Hospital (RMC) which eventually lead her to private duty nursing.
