A Memorial service for Eugenia Goodall Brannon, 82, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014, in the Chapel of the Anniston First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the breeze way in front of the Chapel. Mrs. Brannon died on January 26, 2014. Mrs. Brannon is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wade Hampton Brannon. Mrs. Brannon is survived by her daughter, Virginia B. Michalek and her husband, Robert H. Michalek, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a son, Wade H. Brannon Jr. and his wife, Camille W. Brannon, of Atlanta; grandchildren, Wade H. Brannon III, Stella W. Brannon and Maxine W. Brannon, all of Atlanta; sisters, Virginia G. Johnson and Louise G. Smith, both of Birmingham; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brannon was born in Birmingham to Virginia Jemison Goodall and Robert Montgomery Goodall. After attending Randolph Macon Women's college she graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University. She was a long time member of the Colonial Dames, several garden clubs including Garden Guild in Birmingham and was a past member of Euterpian in Anniston. She served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Anniston YMCA and the Board of the Anniston Museum of Natural History. She was instrumental in creating the Eugenia G. Brannon Nature Trail and where she taught numerous classes on identifying native wildflower species. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Organ Restoration Fund at the Anniston First United Methodist Church or the Anniston Museum of Natural History.
