Freddie Wayne Hollis passed away comfortably at home on Monday, January 27, 2014. Fred was born in Pittsboro, Miss. on March 29, 1947, to Allie Mae Hollis and Fred Jimmie Hollis. The family later moved to Clarksdale, Miss. Fred graduated from Clarksdale High School in 1966. Excelling in athletics, he earned a four-year scholarship as a tight end for the Ole Miss Rebels. He graduated from Ole Miss in 1971. Fred resided in Anniston and Oxford for 20 years. He owned and operated Anniston-Oxford Realty. He was involved with the Oxford Quarterback Club, Kiwanis International, the Alabama Association of Realtors, First Methodist Church of Anniston, and the
. He enjoyed travelling, bird hunting, Ole Miss football and a close circle of friends known as The Round Table. Fred is survived by his wife, Janie Nelson Hollis, of Oxford; his sons, Scott (Natasha) Hollis, Esq. of Olive Branch, Miss.; Dr. Van (Rayanne) Hollis of Sumner, Miss; Denson (Lauren) Hollis and their daughter Eloise of Oxford, Miss.; a step-son, Jason (Davinna) Reeves and their daughter MacKenzie of Villa Rica, Ga. He is also survived by his sister Betty Martin of Atlanta, Ga.; and his brother Chuck (Rose) Hollis of Mariana, Florida. Fred was predeceased by his prior wife, Brenda Dozier Hollis, of Anniston, ; his mother and father, as well as his sister Kathryn (Gerald) Brasher of Hamilton, Alabama. A memorial service will be held on Fri, January 31, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church of Anniston with visitation starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the
