Harvey E. Dickerson Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. Harvey E. Dickerson Sr., 92, of Ohatchee, will be today, December 8, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Rodriguez and Jimmy Darrell Hill officiating. The family will receive friends this evening from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013, at Vinson Cemetery in Ohatchee. Mr. Dickerson passed away December 7, 2013 at his home in Ohatchee. Mr. Dickerson is survived by his daughters, Dianne (Lewis) Gannaway and Pam (Keith) McLeod; son, Jeff (Deborah) Dickerson; daughter-in-law, Violet Dickerson; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Dickerson is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Henderson Dickerson; son, Harvey "Peewee" Dickerson; grandson, Keith Dickerson; parents, Jesse and Lizzie Dickerson and several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Chris Gannaway, Joshua Gannaway, Michael Gannaway, Matt Dickerson, Kendall Dickerson, Brandon McLeod, Eric McLeod and Shane Ogle. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremiah Gannaway. Mr. Dickerson was a veteran of World War II where he served in numerous places across Europe. He was retired from Anniston Army Depot. Mr. Dickerson loved coaching little league baseball, fishing, camping and Alabama football. Mr. Dickerson also loved spending time with family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith.
