Herbert Franklin Mundy

The funeral service for Mr. Herbert Franklin Mundy, 81, of Oxford, will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Kenneth Phillips and the Reverend Randy Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Mundy passed away on June 3, 2014 at Noland Hospital of Anniston. Mr. Mundy had been a member of Ruhama Baptist Church for over 50 years and during that time had served as Chairman of the Deacons for several years. He and his brother, Charles, owned and operated Mundy Brothers Grocery for over 30 years. Following his retirement from the grocery business, he and Charles founded Mundy's Auto Sales. Mr. Mundy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Roxie Mundy; his siblings, Vinnie Lee McMahon, Allen Mundy and his wife, Amelia and Clyde Mundy and a brother-in-law, Floyd Shumaker. Mr. Mundy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Juanita Mundy; a daughter, Brenda Morgan and her husband, Melvin; a son, Scott Mundy and his wife, Michelle; five grandchildren, Derek Morgan, Jena Morgan, Patrick Gray, Dexter Mundy and Garrett Mundy; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Shumaker; brothers, Robert Mundy and Charles Mundy and his wife, Kay and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mr. Mundy's grandsons and nephews, Derek Morgan, Patrick Gray, Dexter Mundy, Wayne Haynes, Randy Haynes, Taylor Haynes, Mike Mundy and Charles Mundy Jr. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.klbrownmemorychapel.com.
