Oxford - Funeral services for Mr. John Howard Lindblom, 72, of Oxford, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jacksonville with Father Michael Rich officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. The family will also receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Mr. Lindblom passed away on June 7, 2013. Mr. Lindblom grew up in Jacksonville and attended Birmingham-Southern College and Howard College. After college, he was a stock broker for Kholmeyer and Company in Birmingham then went on to form his own company, Landscape Services in Birmingham. He was also a stockcar racer. He attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church and had served in the Army
National Guard. He had recently been employed with URS Westinghouse in Anniston. Mr. Lindblom was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Audrey Lindblom, of Jacksonville, and a brother, Major Robert Dean Lindblom, USAF, ret., of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Mr. Lindblom is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lou R. Lindblom of Oxford; a daughter, Amanda Lindblom, of Oxford; two sons, Jonathan Lindblom and wife, Janie, of Jacksonville, and Joshua Lindblom and his wife, Suzy, of Mobile; grandchildren, Katlyn L. Lindblom and Michael Lindblom, of Oxford and Julia and Conner Lindblom, of Mobile; two sisters, Carol Lindblom, of College Park, Md. and Christine Doughtie and her husband, Charlie, of Griffin, Ga.; his brother, Richard Lindblom and his wife, Brenda, of Jacksonville; six nieces, five nephews, and six first cousins. Pallbearers will be Sean Wesley, Howard Barksdale, John Hurley, Andy Willis, Charlie Doughtie, Hunter Lindblom, and Pat Wayne Shaddix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The John H. Lindblom Scholarship which will be established for an Oxford High School Senior entering a Community College to major in a career-technical field.
