Joy Cunningham Albea

COLLINSVILLE — Joy Cunningham Albea, beloved mother, grandmommy, sister, aunt, and friend went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2009 in her home in Collinsville, Alabama. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive guests today, May 8, 2009, from 4-6 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston, Alabama. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joy Albea will be at Vernon Baptist Church in Collinsville on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 3 p.m. with Pastor Charles Woodfin officiating. Joy was born on January 14, 1928, in Collinsville, Alabama. She married Woodrow Albea in 1952 and they made their home in Anniston. In 2002, Joy returned to her childhood home of Collinsville. Joy is survived by her daughter, Woodlyn (Mike) Jorgensen; her son, Jim (Lisa) Albea; her six grandchildren, Alycia (Landon) Darilek, Joanna Jorgensen, Helen Albea, Colin Albea, Philip Jorgensen, and John Albea; and her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Darilek. She is also survived by her three brothers, Herbert (Bibby) Cunningham, Wayne (Carolyn) Cunningham and Vernon (Bobbie) Cunningham; and her sister, Joanne Gunnin, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Woodrow Albea; her parents, T.C. and Susie Mae Cunningham, and her brother, Carey Cunningham.
