Mesa, AZ - Martha Jane Hollis passed from this life on the afternoon of September 21, 2013. Her family was by her side at her passing after a 6-month battle with cancer. Martha was born to Kenneth Robinson and Lucy (Barkley) Wagers in Sheffield, Alabama, on February 2, 1948. With her father in the military, she traveled extensively as a child. Upon her father's passing (1957), her mother and siblings moved to Jacksonville, where she graduated from Jacksonville High School (1965), attended Jacksonville State University, and then transferred and graduated from the University of North Texas (1968) with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics. She then married her high school sweetheart, Leo Derrel Hollis in 1968, whom she met in the sixth grade. After staying at home with her three young children for a number of years, she went to work for the airline industry. She worked and spent most of her professional career with America West airlines, working in Revenue Accounting. Martha enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She adored her three grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by her father and mother. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Leo Derrel Hollis, of Woodbridge,Va.; her mother-in-law, Zula Buckelew Hollis, of Jacksonville; her children, Leo Derrel Hollis Jr. (Stacey) of Bluffdale, Utah, Ellen Annette Hollis Cannady (Chad) of Noblesville, Ind., and David Lee Hollis (Kristy Heidenreich), of Ashland, Wis., and her grandchildren, Mason Patrick and Alyse Brianna Cannady; Harper Lake Hollis-Heidenreich. She is also survived by her brothers, Kenneth Robinson Wagers Jr., William Charles Wagers, and Robert Lee Wagers; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. At her request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Foundation for Women's Cancer. The visitation and funeral service will be held at 10 p.m. in the morning on Friday, September 27, 2013, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, located at 6747 East Broadway Road, Mesa, Arizona.
