Minzo Childs

Anniston - Funeral services for Minzo Childs, 64, will be on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mr. Childs remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his services. Mr. Childs passed on Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Mississippi. He was a Cobb Avenue High School Class of 1967 graduate. He also graduated from Georgia State University. He was employed with City of Anniston Parks and Recreations. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Minzo was entrepreneur, he was owner of the hat shop, 'The Hat Man". Survivors include his children, Minzo (Camille) Childs and Paloma Childs, both of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Myrlte L. Miller, of Anniston; siblings, Charles (Vicky) Miller, of Anniston, Jerome Childs, of Birmingham, Lloyd (Tonya) Hughes, Dan (Iris) Childs, all of Saginaw, Mich., Willie Jean Smith, of Warner Robin, Ga., Angela (Tim) Nightingale, of Jacksonville, Fla., Marion (Wilbert) Young, of Norcross, Ga., Carolyn (Wilroy) Watkis, of New Lancaster, Del., Leeandra (Montrell) Carroll, of Charlotte, N.C., Peggy Geiss, of Jackson, Miss., Patricia Childs, Denise (Joe) Zaragoza, Beverly Tucker, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Tina Gordon, of Germany; grandchildren, Minzo (BJ), Donell, Simone, Devin; greatgrands, Kamaya and Kamari; uncle, Jessie Johnson, of Birmingham; aunt, Gladys Davis, of Ellenwood, Ga. other relatives and friends.
