Myrle Gidley

Myrle Gidley Oct. 16, 1925-Jan. 28, 2014. Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ruhama Baptist Church. Burial following at Forest Lawn Gardens. No graveside services. Mrs. Gidley passed away at NHC nursing home early Tuesday morning. Mrs. Gidley is survived by one daughter, June Gordon, her husband, Robert; one son, Rowland Gidley, his wife, Gloria; Three grandchildren, Leslie Morgan (Amanda), Maverick Gidley (Katie) and Makaila Gidley; two great-grandchildren Miller Morgan and Cooper Morgan; two sisters, Inus Nott and Eunice Elkins and one brother, Fred Young and his wife, Muffie. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Lester Gidley; two sisters, Willie Jean Young and Gladys Jennings; one brother, Pete Young; her parents Naomi and Authur Young. Mrs. Gidley was a native of Cleburne County. She moved with her family to Calhoun County in 1945. Mrs. Gidley was a graduate of Oxford High School, class of 1946. After high school graduation she went to work at Samson Cordage Cotton Mill where she continued for the next 27 years. After leaving there, Mrs. Gidley was employed at Sky City department store from 1972 until she retired at the store closing in 1990. Mrs. Gidley was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church for over 60 years. Pallbearers will be Michael Young, Greg Gidley, Ronnie Burt, Russell Bryan, Terry Johnson and Ellis Johnson.
