Raymond Dailey Rainey

Piedmont - Rev. Raymond Dailey Rainey, 94, of Piedmont, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013. He was an assistant pastor of Piedmont Church of the Nazarene for 36 years, served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Germany, and retired from SCT as a fixer after 39 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dailey and Mattie Harden Rainey; son, Bernie Ray Rainey; son-in-law, David E. Ross; two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held today, June 15, 2013, at 7 p.m. from the Piedmont Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David Ingram and the Rev. Herbert Roundtree officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5 - 7 p.m. Cremation will follow as final disposition. Pallbearers will be Dakota McGatha, Dewayne Lane, Hugh Bedwell, Norman Parker, Stephen Ingram, and Brian McWilliams. Casket Guard will be John (Doc) Studdard. Ray as he was known, is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myrtice Bedwell Rainey; three sons, Frank (Bonnie) Rainey, Gerald (Patsy) Rainey, Clarence (Mary Ann) Rainey; four daughters, Sandra (Frankie) Anthony, Joyce (Gerald) Walker, Vivian (Dale) Warner, and Kathy Ross; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank his special caregivers, Dewayne Lane, Denina Studdard, Onda Garrett, Sandy Mobley, and Ramona Coheley. The family requests no flowers, however contributions may be made in his memory to the Piedmont Church of the Nazarene, in care of Rev. David Ingram.
