Funeral service for Rex Wallace Ballinger, 76, will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 1 p.m. from Benefield Funeral Chapel with Mike Nobbley officiating. Entombment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens in Anniston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Mr. Ballinger passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Ballinger, of Wedowee; daughter, Natalie Steinborn, of Bremen, Ga.; two sons, Richard Ballinger, of Pensacola, Fla., and Patrick Ballinger, of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Fonda Powers, of Hamburg, IA, and Martha Harris, of Glenwood, IA. Pallbearers will be friends and family. An Iowa native, Mr. Ballinger was born on November 5, 1939, the son of Roy and Lucille Earl Ballinger. He was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired United States Postal Service Postmaster. Mr. Ballinger was preceded in death by his parents.
