Oxford - Graveside funeral services for Jerry A. Griffin, 74, of Oxford, will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at the Forestlawn Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jason King and Dr. Stacey Boutwell officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr Griffin died Thursday at Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Mary Griffin; daughter, Lisa Sosebee and her husband, John of Golden Springs; son, Lynn Griffin, of Oxford; one brother, William Griffin and his wife, Betty of DeArmanville; sister, Mary Williams, of Golden Springs; brother-in-law, Charles Mason and his wife, Pat, of Oxford; sister-in-law, Paulette Simpson, of Oxford. Pallbearers will be James Freeman, Chris Bunt, Danny Sprayberry, Billy Key, Terry Elkins and Melvin Ford. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grace Baptist Deacons, and the members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mr. Griffin has been employed by A&P Grocery, Loves Supermarket, Lea and Mikes Grocery, and Pickett's Grocery. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church since 1971 and served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estel and Erline Griffin. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, or to the Red Cross for Tornado Victims.
