Funeral services for Mr. Marshal A. Brown, 92, of Anniston, will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Golden Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Roland P. Brown officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Brown passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012. Mr. Brown was born in Piedmont and attended school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II as a navigation instructor. While in the military, he attended Yale University. He continued his military career in the USAF Reserves for 33 years and retired as a Major. After the War, he established a used car business in Anniston then began a banking career with Commercial National Bank. While there, he attended the LSU Banking School. He retired after a long career in the banking business. He was also active in the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Brown was a member and deacon at Golden Springs Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in January, 2010. He loved to travel and was proud of the fact that he had traveled around to 57 countries around the world. He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nannie Mae Brown; his son, Roger Douglas Brown; his parents, Melvin and Mary Brown; a brother, Ernest Brown and a sister, Bertha Tyson. Mr. Brown is survived by his daughter-in-law, Brenda Brown, of Anniston; two granddaughters, Amanda Thompson and her husband, Josh, of Fayetteville, Ga. and Emily Brown, of Anniston; three great-grandchildren, Madison Brown, Kelsey Brown, and Jack Thompson; two sisters, Martha Reaves, of Jacksonville and Dorothy Clarkson, of Anniston; a brother, Huey Brown, of Anniston and numerous nieces and nephews.
