Alison Elizabeth Knight Simmons, 90, passed quietly into the afterlife on May 31, 2016 in Jacksonville. Born and raised in Chicopee Falls, Mass., she married Gordon (Strawberry) Simmons in 1945 and moved to Anniston. The couple lived in Weaver from 1952 - 1974 and eventually retired to Laguna Beach, Fla. where they were very active in Gulfview Methodist Church. Alison and Gordon returned to Jacksonville in 2005 and she has been residing at Legacy Village Retirement Community where she devoted most of her time to her lifelong passion of watercolor painting. She is survived by two sons, William Rudy Simmons (Ohatchee) and David Albert Simmons (Memphis, Tenn.), along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Kay Thompson Simmons (Laguna Beach, Fla.). She is preceded in death by her son, Arthur Clarence Simmons. A "End of Life" celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Legacy Village of Jacksonville.
