Alton Cleon "A.C." Harris, 79, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Upper Cane Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Myra Gail Harris, of Heflin; daughter, Holly Harris (Chris) Rajchel, of Appleton, Wis.; son, Nathaniel "Nat" Harris, of Mobile; brother, A.A. (Barbara) Harris Jr., of Utica, Ky.; grandchildren, Christopher Rajchel, Brayden Rajchel, Stephen Melson, Savannah Harris and Mary Katherine Harris. Mr. Harris was born in Cleburne County where he was raised on the family farm. Among the many chores required to run a family farm, Cleon made the time to become one of the state's most accomplished young trumpeters. He attended University of Alabama where he played trumpet in The Million Dollar Band. He lived, worked and raised his family in Pascagoula, Miss., where he retired from Chevron Oil. He returned home to Cleburne County, where he and Gail have lived for many years. His love of the Alabama Crimson Tide was only overshadowed by his love of family. His greatest love and joy in life came from his wife, children and grandchildren. Dryden Funeral Home 256-463-2287 Visit our website: drydenfuneralhome.com
