Ana T. Key

Obituary

Ana T. Key, 61, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014. Ana was born to the late Ruben Torres and Elba Vega, March 2, 1953, in New York City, N.Y. and raised in Puerto Rico. She received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Drama and Liberal Arts from the University of Puerto Rico in 1972 and received a Master's degree in History from Jacksonville State University in 1995. She taught Spanish, History, and Geography at the Donoho School and Alexandria High School for over 30 years. Making a difference in the lives of her students was her passion along with loving her family. She enjoyed the Fine Arts and was an avid, competitive ball room dancer. Her love of travel lead her to visit over 10 countries on three different continents in her lifetime. Ana is survived by four children, Manuel F. Ramirez, Juan M. Ramirez, Adriana R. Ramirez-Scott, and Cassandra M. Norton. She also is survived by seven beautiful grandchildren, Gabriel, Aurora, Liliana, Evan, Emma, Mariana, and Maliyah. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Be The Match. Be The Match is a global leader in blood cancer research and bone marrow transplantation. The research done by them has contributed to improved transplant outcomes and provide support and resources for patients and partner with a global network. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home.
