Andrew "Drew" Burgin Passed away quietly after a short illness on January 18th 2018 at the Anniston Regional Medical Center. He was 73 years old. Drew is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew W. Burgin, Sr. and Ellen H. Burgin, and his sister, Michael Burgin. Drew was a graduate of Anniston High School and the University of Alabama. He was an Army Vietnam War Veteran. He lived in Atlanta for more than thirty years working in banking. When he retired he returned to Anniston to help care for his mother which he did faithfully until her death in 2012. A gifted master gardener, Drew was involved in the planning and development of the Atlanta Botanical Garden in the 1970's. He was a very active supporter of the Longleaf Botanical Garden in Anniston. Drew was also a generous supporter of the Cheaha Creative Arts; an after school fine arts program for Calhoun County students. An avid reader, Drew was a fixture at the Anniston Library for years and a major benefactor of the library. He was on the Board of the Friends of the Library and was awarded the Alabama Library Association Humanitarian Award in 2013. Drew's thoughtful, generous spirit and his urban wit will be greatly missed by his many friends.
