Memorial service for Mr. Andries "Dutchman" Schoonhoven, 75, of Piedmont will be Saturday, August 09, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home. Mr. Schoonhoven passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ilse Schoonhoven; two daughters, Rosy Schoonhoven (Edward Hebert) and Sylvia Gordon (James), all of Piedmont; two sons, Johnny Schoonhoven and Robby Schoonhoven (Gretchen), all of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Jessica Hebert, Lesley Schoonhoven, Matthew Hebert, Bradley Gordon, Sam Gordon and Gavin Schoonhoven; three brothers, Jacob Schoonhoven, of Holland, Teunis Schoonhoven, of Cedartown, Ga. and Jan Schoonhoven (Jean), of Piedmont; one sister, Johanna Schoonhaven, of Holland. Mr. Schoonhoven was born in the Netherlands and moved to the United States on August 02, 1964. He was a former resident of Atlanta, Ga. where he was in the construction and real estate business. In 1970 he and his family moved to Piedmont where he continued in the construction and real estate business as well as the poultry business. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lammert and Johanna Schoonhoven; one brother, Lammert Schoonhoven Jr.; one sister, Driesha Bakker.
