Anniston - Funeral services for Mrs. Anne Jones Flannagan, 94, of Anniston, will be at noon on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Rick Searle officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Flannagan passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Mom was born in the south Alabama town of Ariton, a rural community near Troy, Alabama. Though she lived in Anniston for 67 years, she was always a south Alabama girl. She met our father, Roy Flannagan, in Montgomery during World War II. After the war, they moved to Anniston, which was Roy's home. They spent the rest of their lives here. They worked and reared their two children here. Mom worked for over thirty years for AmSouth Bank, now Regions Bank. She retired as executive vice president. She was devoted to her Savior, her church, her family, and work. Serving others was a way of life for her; helping anyone that called on her. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church and taught Bible class there for many years. Our dad died suddenly in 1970 and she remained a widow until her passing. She is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Lynn F. Crane, of Anniston; her son, Dr. Roy Flannagan and his wife, Sharon, of Anniston; her four grandchildren, Rick Crane, of Atlanta, Lauren Thacker and her husband, John, of Atlanta, Dr. Taylor Flannagan and his wife, Melissa, of Birmingham, and Dr. John Flannagan and his wife, Kim, of Anniston; and four great-grandchildren, Joel Thacker and Kirklyn Thacker, both of Atlanta, and Marley Flannagan and Laney Flannagan, both of Birmingham. She was devoted to all of them. Pallbearers will be Rick Crane, John Thacker, Joel Thacker, Dr. John Flannagan, Dr. Taylor Flannagan, and Reverend Erik McDaniel. All of us will miss her greatly, but our memory of her life will be an inspiration to us all. God is faithful. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 4100 Ronnaki Road, Anniston, AL 36207. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
