The Funeral Mass for Mrs. Anne Lloyd Kitchin, 86, of Anniston, will be at 2 p.m. today July 14, 2015, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Golden Springs with Reverend Bryan Lowe officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the service hour today at the church. Mrs. Kitchin passed away on July 10, 2015, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Kitchin was born in Ferrum, Va. and grew up in Christiansburg, Va., then moved to Anniston in 1938. She attended Ursuline College and graduated from of the University of Alabama in 1949. Mrs. Kitchin was a dedicated and active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. She served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for the sick, volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program and was a member of the Ladies Guild. She also served as the first President of the Southeast Deanery of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Mrs. Kitchin was a long time supporter of the Anniston YMCA, where she served on the board of directors. She volunteered as the official swim team scorekeeper for 13 years, and received recognition for outstanding service. In addition, Mrs. Kitchin was a volunteer at the Anniston Museum of Natural History and served on the hospitality committee. She was a member of the Junior League of Anniston-Calhoun County, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Guild. At the University of Alabama, Mrs. Kitchin was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, and recently served as President of the KD Alumni Association of Anniston. She was a member of Parnassus and the Revelers Krewe. Mrs. Kitchin was an avid bridge player and talented calligrapher. She retired from Couch's Jewelers after 18 years of employment. Mrs. Kitchin is preceded in death by her parents, William Kiddoo and Nora Elizabeth Dunlea Lloyd; and her sister, Jean Lloyd Willett and her husband, Elbert Willett. She is survived by her children, Claude "Bud" (Debbie) Kitchin, of Lincoln, Jean Kitchin (Alan) Parker, of Marietta, Stacy Kitchin (Richard) Bean, of Atlanta and Mary Anne Kitchin (Warren) Shows, of Birmingham; grandchildren, Meghan Elizabeth Kitchin (Grady) Fisher, Camden Reid Kitchin, Jeremy Lee (Noelle) Stovall, Claire Reid Parker, Davis Lloyd Parker, Sarah Elizabeth Parker, Anne Lloyd Bean, Rachel Elizabeth Bean, Thomas Warren Shows II and William Reid Shows.
