Annette Bennett Hicks, 89, passed away April 2, 2017 at NHC in Anniston. Funeral service will be held today, April 4, 2017, at 12 p.m. in the Chapel at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Dr. Larry Morrison officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. with the service to follow. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Merl) Haynes; grandsons, Jason (Lesley) Hutchison and Hunter (Rachael) Hutchison; great-grandchildren, Leighton, Ella Grace, Kennedy, Bentley and Brooks; brother, Durward (Meda) Bennett Jr.; sister-in-law, Harriett Bennett; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hicks is preceded in death by her husband, James Hicks; parents, Durward and Sara Bennett, and brother, James Emory Bennett. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sara-Faith Sunday School Class. Annette graduated from Sylacauga High School and attended Auburn University. She retired from the Revenue Commissioner's Office in Sylacauga after 23 years of service. Annette was an active member of Sylacauga First Baptist Church for over 60 years where she participated in various activities. She was an avid Auburn and Atlanta Braves fan. Her greatest joy in life was her family and the time she spent with them. Annette was loved and cared for by many, and will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Memorials can be made to the Forward in Faith Building Fund of Sylacauga First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 234, Sylacauga AL 35150. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Autumn Cove Assisted Living Facility and NHC Nursing Facility for the love and care they gave her during her stay over the past three years.
