Funeral service for B.A. Ward Jr., 88, will be 2 p.m. today, April 4, 2017, at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with his son-in-law, the Rev. Danny Harris and the Rev. DeWayne Borders officiating. Burial will follow at Chosea Springs Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 12 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Ward passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at his residence. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Edna Ward; two daughters, Carla Harris (Danny) and Sherrie Ward Faughender; son, Gerald Carroll (Lynda); five grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Bobby Ward (Beverly), Walter Ward (Rita) and Billy Ward (Peggy). Mr. Ward is preceded in death by his parents, Bernice A. Ward Sr., and Cora Ward, and a sister, Linda Ward. Pallbearers will be Greg Carroll, Hunter Carroll, Trent Carroll, Bryce Boroughs, Jason Green, Brunson Ward, Chad Reid and Andy Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons at Chosea Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Ward was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was a member of Chosea Springs Baptist Church. He worked at Sampson Cortage and retired from Anniston Electric. He was a member of the Jacksonville Masonic Lodge. Mr. Ward was a U.S. Navy veteran where he joined at the age of 17. He was part of the Atomic Bomb Testing Clean-up on the Marshall Islands. Mr. Ward joined the Army and the National Guard. He enjoyed being at home with his family and his pets. He loved to garden, plant flowers and work in the yard. Mr. Ward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather who will be dearly missed. The family would like to express a special thanks to Alacare Hospice nurses, Randy and Michael, Dr. DeValentine, Carson Pierce and Dr. Spremulli.
