Anniston - Mrs. Barbara Jean Roper, 77, of Anniston, passed away at National Healthcare Center in Anniston on November 3, 2012. She is survived by her three children, James F. Roper Jr., of Denver, Colorado, Steven W. Roper (Linda) and Frances Weathington, of Anniston; three grandchildren, Melissa Schlerf (David), Dana Meler (Torsten) and Luke Weathington (Elizabeth); three great-grandchildren, Dillon, Joshua and Asher Schlerf. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, James Franklin Roper, in July 2012. Mrs. Roper was born in Albertville, Alabama. Her parents were James Elbert Webb and Maggie Galloway Webb. She attended Jacksonville State Teachers College. She retired from Anniston Family Practice as an office manager after many years of employment. Her friends and family will remember her as an intelligent woman with an incisive sense of humor. She loved travel, crossword puzzles, and crafts. She was a devoted Auburn fan. She was of the Christian faith.
