Funeral service for Mrs. Beth Craig O'Brien Smith, 82, will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015, at 12 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Dr. Roland P. Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith went Home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2015. A native of Anniston, Mrs. Smith was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church. She never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. Never having children of her own, she gained and was blessed with an insurmountable amount of love from her step-children, who loved her as their own mother. Mrs. Smith was a loan officer in the banking industry during her working career. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Frank "Buck" O'Brien; her second husband, Al Smith Sr. and by her parents, George W. Craig Sr. and Grace Jenkins Craig. Survivors include her step-daughters, Pat Troup and her husband, Larry and Tina Bailey, all of Oxford; step-sons, Al Smith Jr. and his wife, Martha and Bobby Smith, all of Oxford, Michael O'Brien and his wife, Virginia, of Albertville and Pat O'Brien and his wife, Janice, of Anniston; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Robertson, of Alexandria and Aileen Craig and her husband, Joe, of Ocala, Fla.; brothers, George W. Craig Jr., of Claredon, N.C. and J.C. Craig and his wife, Barbara, of Orlando, Fla. and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Mrs. Smith's caregiver and friend, Glenda Simmons, the staff at NHC for all of their continued care and support and the ICU staff at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Pallbearers will be Jarrod Troup, Adam Bailey, Matt O'Brien, Bobby Smith, Al Smith Jr., Larry Troup and Jason Troup. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to The Prayer Room at Golden Springs Baptist Church, 3 Robertson Road, Anniston, AL 36207. K.L.
