Funeral service for Betty Hammond Maples, 85, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Big Springs Baptist Church, in Roanoke, with the Rev. Jerry Cole officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Maples passed away Wednesday in Anniston. Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Williamson (Brandon); sons, Terry Maples and Jeff Maples; sisters, Patricia Cole (Jerry) and Kaye Wortham (Jacky); brothers, Barry Hammond (Doris) and Vaxter Hammond; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Maples is preceded in death by her parents, James and Louise Hammond; husband, Floyd Maples, and son Scott Maples. Mrs. Maples was a native of Randolph County and a resident of Calhoun County.
