Funeral service for Betty Jane Dutton Cater, 87, of Anniston will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Bro. Mike Holcomb and George Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private family burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. Mrs. Cater went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2015. Mrs. Cater is survived by four daughters, Eleanor (Johnny) Johnson, Martha (James) Franklin, Judy (Johnny) Hayden, Rebecca (John) Wheeler; one son, Edward (Marsha) Cater; grandchildren, Barry Johnson, Dale McVeigh, Shane Johnson, Dianne Bonner, Guy McVeigh, Stacy Rogers, Brian Hayden, Kathy Thurman, Amy Johnson, Christy Gilbert, Andrew Wheeler and Amanda Wheeler; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ada Lou Stokes; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cater was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence Cater; her parents, Dallas and Nannie Dutton; two sisters, Helen Heptinstall and Audrey Gray; brother, Dallas Chester Dutton Jr.; great-grandson, Matthew Shane Johnson. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason Gilbert, Matt Rogers, Greg Johnson, Kyle Johnson and Grant Watson. Mrs. Cater was a lifelong resident of Anniston. She was a member of Iron City Baptist Church but also for many years was an active member of Glenaddie Baptist Church. She retired from Johnston Jr. High in the lunchroom. Mrs. Cater, known affectionately as "K-K", enjoyed being with family and was a very giving person. She will be greatly missed.
