Betty Johnson, 85, passed away on January 2, 2018, joining her husband of 66 years, Willis Johnson. She was lovingly cared for by her family, and will be missed immeasurably. Betty was born to Sam and Exa Patterson in Lineville on June 15, 1932. She shared her love of reading as the Oxford Childrens' Librarian, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Betty was humble and kind, her friends and caregivers say she was the sweetest person ever. To her kids she was the greatest Mom, and she always expressed her immense pride in her younguns. Betty instilled values learned during the Great Depression as the family raised vegetables and critters on Coldwater Road, getting the kids up early to earn the money for the annual family beach vacation by carrying the thousands of ears of corn she picked. Willis and Betty moved to Fairhope, AL in 2013, where they were members of First Baptist Church. She last had her family together at Thanksgiving, making her biscuits she knew they loved. She spent her last days in peace at home where she looked upon her beloved flowers and birds. Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James D. Patterson; and a sister, Ernestine Lowe. Betty is survived by her four children; Brenda Fleming and spouse Don Rowe, Cathy Farr and spouse Steve, Sam Johnson and spouse Sonia Miranda, and Jim Johnson and spouse Tracey McGee; six grandchildren, Tammy Johnson Boyanoski and spouse John, Brett Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Aidan Johnson, and Norah Johnson; and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Kittridge Boyanoski; her beloved sister, Ruth Buchanan; and treasured sister-in-laws Carolyn Beecham, Joyce Johnson, and Sara Patterson. The family will receive visitors at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a service.
