Graveside service for Betty Johnson Christie, 94, will be 2:30 p.m., Monday at Forestlawn Gardens. Mrs. Christie passed into God's hands from natural causes June 21, 2015. She was a dedicated wife, involved and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and charity. Born March 15, 1921, in Atlanta, Ga., she lived in Decatur, Ga., where she married her husband, Claude E. Christie on October 31, 1942. In 1948 she moved to Fitzgerald, Ga. for 5 years, before moving and settling down in Anniston in 1953. Betty was a Charter member of Athena Study Club and a longtime active member of Neysa Coker Sunday School Class at the First United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for over 50 years. Survivors include her brother, Fletcher Johnson; her only daughter, Jane C. Crossley; granddaughters, Christie D. Snyder and Melissa J. Delvin; great-grandchildren, Robert A. Devlin, Jennifer M. Delvin and Gregory M. Snyder; great-great-grandchildren, Samantha D. Kirby, Elaina N. Tipton, A. J. Wright and Hunter Devlin. Betty was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Claude E. Christie. Online condolences may be made at www.graybrownservice.com
