Mrs. Betty Joyce McCurdy Ingram was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Piedmont Health Care Center. Betty was born Tuesday, July 7, 1931 to Lonnie Augustus and Julia Beatrice Stephens McCurdy in Piedmont, Alabama. Raised in Ball Hornet with ' Little Titter' Carol Jo and 'Bubba' Lonnie, Betty graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1948 . Betty met the 'love of her life' George Russell Ingram, Jr. at Piedmont Springs Congregational Holiness Church (CHC) Campgrounds which lead to their marriage on Friday, March 10, 1950. A marriage of over 55 years was blessed with three sons Russell, Stephen and Benjamin and daughter Julia Beth (deceased), which were their "rewarding heritage (Psalms 127: 3)". Betty worked faithfully with George at their ornamental concrete, shrubbery and monument company Piedmont Concrete Center until their retirement in 1995. Betty was a talented pianist and singer of gospel music throughout her Christian life. She was a faithful and compassionate pastor's wife at Tredegar CHC in the 1950's. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 121: 1-8. She was a loving wife to George; loving mother to her four children, two nieces and three nephews, a 'grand ' mother to nine grand children; a "great grand" mother to eight grand children; and a treasured loving friend to all who knew her pleasant demeanor. Betty Ingram was preceded in death by infant daughter Julia Beth; infant granddaughters- Christina Lynn and Angela Leigh Ingram; parents - Lonnie and Julia McCurdy; husband - George Russell Ingram; brother - Lonnie (Bubba) McCurdy, Jr.; brother-in-law - William Hart; nephew - Keith McCurdy and infant great- grandson - Cooper Allen Cobb. Betty Ingram is survived by Sons, Dr. Russell Leon Ingram (Joan), Stephen Lee Ingram, Sr. (Brenda) and Dr. Benjamin Broderick Ingram (Sandra); grandchildren, Rev. Stephen Lee Ingram, Jr. (Mary Liz), Krista I. Connell (Brandon), Heather A. Ingram (Colin), Amanda I. Cobb (Geoffrey), Brian R. Ingram (Megan), Meagan I. Morrow (Junior) and Lauren J. Ingram; great grandchildren, Mary Clare Ingram, Patrick A. Ingram, Fischer T. Connell, Dustin B. Morrow, Nora G. Ingram, Landon G. Cobb, Hunter J. Connell, Ainsley B. Cobb and Isabelle L. Morrow; sister, Carol Jo Hart; sister - In- Law, Mary Bible McCurdy; nieces, Amelia Jo Hart and Judy H. Mobley (Chester); and nephews, Mr. Gary McCurdy (Vickie) and Gregory McCurdy (Angie). Betty's family will receive friends Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Home from 10:00am to 12:00 noon with Funeral service at 12 noon. The Reverend Jerry Pike and Mr. Gary McCurdy will officiate. Burial will be at Piedmont Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be The Rev. Stephen Lee Ingram, Brian Russell Ingram, Larry Garrett (honorary), Bruce Wallace (honorary), Geoffrey Cobb, Brandon Connell, Junior Morrow and Greg McCurdy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Piedmont Health Care Fund at 30 Roundtree Drive; Piedmont, AL. 36272 or Piedmont Rescue Squad. The family wishes to thank the kind and professional staff of PHCC Memory Care Unit, Nurse Meagan Morrow and Music Therapist Lauren Ingram. Betty's last written request to her family was, "I pray we all meet in Heaven". Some of Betty's last words in this life to her family were, "Love You ….Be Good" ( I Thessalonians 4).
