Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Williams-Southside Cemetery for Mrs. Betty May Gibson Gardner, 87, of Guntersville (Formerly of Scottsboro), who died on Sunday, April 3, 2016. The Rev. Reagin Brown will officiate. Williams-Southside Funeral Home will direct. Mrs. Gardner was a minister's wife for 47 years and was very active in various church activities in the North Alabama Methodist Conference. She retired from Sear's Roebuck Company, as a seamstress, after many years of service. One of her passions was her love for gardening. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, the Rev. Edward W. Gardner Jr., also by her parents and her brothers. She is survived by her children, Edward W. (Donna) Gardner III, Debora Wellingham, Bettina Gardner and Jay (Donna) Gardner; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special friend and sister-in-law, Juanita Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very loving thank you to her caregivers, Jan Patterson and Sheila Lang. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Williams-Southside Funeral Home at 1009 Highway 77, Southside, AL. 35907.
