Betty Wright Jones, 78, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016. She grew up in Oxford and as a young bride moved to Ohatchee, where she lived for 49 years. After retirement, Betty moved to High Point, N.C., in 2006, to be near family. She loved her profession as a nurse for over 30 years in Anniston. She loved quilting, cooking, reading and spending time with friends and family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, David and Lois Wright; sister, Evelyn 'Boots' Conner; and brother, Roy Wright. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Harold Jones; children, Tim Jones, of Houston, TX, Barbara (Mark) Willingham, of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Mark (Courtney) Willingham Jr., of Belleville, Ill., and Thomas Willingham, of Greencastle, Pa.; great-grandson, Hunter; sisters, Annie 'Dabbie' Wright McCurry, of Anniston and Wanda Wright Cox, of Houston, TX; brothers, Bob (Libby) Wright, of Magnolia, TX, and Coy (Charlotte) Wright, of Houston, TX; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, in High Point, with Dr. Jim Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the or Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child.
