Funeral service for Mr. Bob M. Hendon, 84, will be on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Wilkes will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 2:30 - 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hendon will be buried at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Mr. Hendon passed away on April 5, 2017 at his home. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Stella Hendon; children, Robert Kalina (Debi), Burt Hendon (Leslie), Mark Hendon (Holleigh), and Leslie Burgess (Kevin Dingler); grandchildren, Krista Wallinger, Kaley Kalina, Jordyn Avery, Madison Burgess, and Oakley Dingler; sister, Edna Earl Boozer; caregiver, Sheila Zydowicz; close friend, who was more like a brother, Bert Davis; a host of several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Lola Hendon. Mr. Hendon was born and raised in Albertville, Alabama, and went on to graduate from Howard College, now Samford University, in 1961. He served for four years in the Navy as a Corpsman. After graduation, he went on to work as a pharmacist for 58 years. Mr. Hendon was hired by Walt Disney to open the first pharmacy in Disney World in Orlando. He retired locally from Bynum Drugs. Mr. Hendon was a hero to his family, respected by many, honorable, and a selfless and loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him.
