Graveside service for Bobbie Jan Kilgore Whitten, 75, will be 2 p.m., today, January 2, 2016, at United Fellowship Baptist Cemetery in Alexandria with Pastors Tommy Reaves, Eugene Burgess and Sam Fordham officiating and Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements. The family invites friends and family for a reception at her home following the service. Mrs. Whitten died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at her residence. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gene A. Whitten; son, Barry Whitten (Sonja); daughter, Kristy W. Stone (Steven); eight grandchildren, Aaron, Luke and Daniel Whitten, Breana and Emily Whitten and Mackenzie, Adam and Jacob Stone; her sister, Gail Love (Ervin); brothers, Matthew Kilgore, Michael Kilgore and Lonnie Kilgore (Lou); several nieces and nephews and her sisters-in-law. Mrs. Whitten is preceded in death by her son, Scott Whitten; brother, Rod Kilgore; sister, Pat Kilgore and her parents, Robert "Red" and Nellie Kilgore. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Whitten was a member of Oak Bowery Baptist Church in Ohatchee. She was a stay at home Mom until her last baby went to college, then worked as a telephone operator at Ft. McClellan and Anniston Army Depot. She was a loving wife, mother and Nana to her grandchildren and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to .
