Funeral service for Buddy Maddox, 70, will be today, Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jo Lane Kirk and the Rev. Bobby Kirk officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Carmel Cemetery. Mr. Maddox passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jan Maddox, of Piedmont; four children, Melissa West, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Tracy Maddox (Melanie), of Centre, Joey Maddox, of Lavergne, Tenn., and Kim Smith (Kenneth), of Piedmont; five grandchildren, Hunter West, Sawyer West, Dallas Smith, Logan Maddox and Nathan Cook (Sara); three great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Ragan (Larry), of Naples, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Brey Barrett, Cody Spoon, Logan Maddox, Larry Ragan, Steve Ragan and Nathan Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Kornegay and David Maddox. Mr. Maddox was a native and resident of Cherokee County all of his life. He was a graduate of Spring Garden High School and was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot and was a avid fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lathan and Frances Maddox; three brothers, Lathan Maddox Jr., Bobby Maddox and Garry Maddox. www.thompsonfuneralhomepiedmont.com
