Funeral service for Mr. Calvin E. Burke, 67, of Lineville will be today, January 29, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Dr. Jeff Fuller officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens. Mr. Burke passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham surrounded by his loving family. A native of Randolph County, he was a United States Air Force and Vietnam veteran. He was employed by Lee Brass in Anniston for a number of years in the quality control department after which he was self employed with his wife, Leila as owner and operator of City Furniture in Ashland. Mr. Burke retired from the Clay County Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Leila Burke, of Lineville; one daughter, Ginger Milstead, of Woodland; two sons, Kenneth Garland and Eddie Burke (Carrie), both of Weogufka, Ala.; one sister, Rebecca Boyd, of Oxford; two brothers, Gary Burke (Debra), of Oxford and Durell Burke, of Piedmont; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Helen Burke. Pallbearers will be the Coosa County Sheriff's Deputies. The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Send on-line condolences to www.benefieldfuneralhome.com.
