Memorial service for Carol Abernathy, 72, will be Wednesday, August 2, 2017, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church Oxford. The Rev. Buddy Freeman will be officiating. Mrs. Abernathy passed away on Sunday at Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Abernathy; sons, Andrew Abernathy, Christopher Abernathy (Alice), Iain Abernathy; mother, Joyce Flack; brother, Leslie Webster; grandchildren, Gabriel Abernathy, Malcom Abernathy, Reese McWhoter and William Abernathy. Mrs. Abernathy was a native of England and lived in Scottland. She was a resident of Oxford for the past 46 years. Mrs. Abernathy was a member of First United Methodist Church, Oxford. She was known for her baking of fresh bread and hot cross buns. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Beacon Hospice, Miller Funeral Home and Crematory 256-831-4611
