Carolyn Dale Boyles lost her battle with cancer early Tuesday morning, March 12, 2015. She is survived by two brothers, Dan Boyles Jr. and his wife, Peggy and David B. Boyles and his wife, Janis. The love of her life was her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Dan and Earnestine Boyles. She was a native of Oxford. Carolyn graduated from Auburn University in 1966, received a Master's Degree from Appalachian State University and a Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Carolyn's early work was in elementary education. She was an accomplished educator, author and developed nationally accepted criteria for early childhood development and education. Carolyn loved music and was a member of Chicks with Sticks, a steel drum band. She celebrated life with her family, music and many friends. A graveside service celebrating the life of Carolyn will be held Saturday, April 18, 11 a.m. at the Oxford Memorial Cemetery, McKibbon St, Oxford. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.
