Charles C. Chapman Jr., 90, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 1 p.m., in the Family Life Center Chapel of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior in the Fireside Room. Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by Betty, his wonderful and devoted wife of 70 years. She passed away February 5, 2015. He is survived by his only son, Alan Chapman and his wife, Kay, who felt truly blessed to have had him and Betty to turn to throughout their decades together; two loving grandsons, Clark and Clay Chapman, who held a special place in their hearts for their Papa and who were deeply loved in return; nieces and nephews and family friends, all of whom saw a more compassionate and caring heart as the years progressed. We will also long remember his wonderful sense of humor, strong will and discipline that he brought to his life. As a father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend, he will be deeply missed. He lived his life in such a way that there are lessons we will never forget. We never went a day without knowing how special each of us was to him. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts but we know he was ready to see Betty again. Though we will miss him greatly, we take great comfort in knowing that we will all be reunited again with our Lord and Savior. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC Place for the care and attention given to him and Betty during these past two years. In addition, the doctors, nurses and sitters at Regional Medical Center could not have been more caring and attentive in his final days. The ministers and members of Parker Memorial have also been a source of love, hope and compassion to Charles and Betty for over 40 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.graybrownservice.com
